Not Your Mother's Meatloaf

This project is an attempt to challenge hetero and gender normative practices in sexuality education. We're holding an open call for illustrators and writers to submit 1-4p vignettes on sex ed. topics (like safer sex, consent, etc) from LGBTQ friendly positions. Comics and Medicine Conference in TORONTO!

We will be presenting a workshop at the annual Comics and Medicine Conference in Toronto, Ontario. The conference will take place July 22-24 at the University of Toronto.
Not Your Mother's Meatloaf will present a workshop on Monday July 23 entitled "Minds in the Gutter: The Power of Comics in Teen Sex Education"
view the conference schedule here

A description of the workshop:
We will speak from our experience as editors of Not Your Mother´s Meatloaf, A Sex Education Comic Book, which is made by and for teens and other young people about sex in order to process complicated experiences and educate others. Participants of this workshop will have the opportunity to test the tools we have formulated for creating comics in these spaces, where marginalized experiences of sexuality and often silenced realities of sexual health can be processed and realized. Together we will discuss the unique opportunities that comics provide as tools in an educational setting, as well as the inherently complicated questions of positionality, aesthetics, and censorship that arise during this work.
